COLLEGE MINISTRY
Given that West University is in proximity to several universities, we have madea focus on college ministries.
We have undergraduate students from Rice University, the University of Houston, the Art Institute of Houston, and South Texas College of Law. In addition, we have many graduate students. College is an exciting and challenging time for young Christians and we provide and atmosphere where students can learn about God and enjoy fellowship with their peers and with Christians of all ages. Young students away from home often need a sense of family and that is what we try to provide. Aside from classes and worship services and singing services, we always try to share a meal and we plan outside activities such attending musical performances. While as a group we try to minister to these students, we are all blessed by their enthusiasm and vitality.
APARTMENT MINISTRY
West University, Bammel, and Kingwood Churches of Christ are associated with the Church Apartment Ministry. This ministry provides an affordable home away from home for MD Anderson cancer patients. A complete description of the ministry and online application are available at www.churchapartmentministry.org. You may also call the volunteer at 713-524-2640 and apply on the phone. The MDA social worker can help you with the application if necessary. After you make application, you should call each Monday to the volunteer office to give an update. Contact West University's church office for more information at 713-666-3535.
EDUCATION
At West University Church of Christ, we believe that spiritual growth is a vital part of the Christian life. The education program, including bible classes, small groups and other ministries, is part of the overall church effort to help experience spiritual growth. Whether it’s a Sunday morning bible class or a Saturday night retreat devotional, each education effort has common goals:
* To gain life skills from deeper understanding of the bible
* To build strong relationships with other members and visitors
* To grow in spirit and confidence in God’s word
We invite you to participate in our classes and bible studies. Discover how God’s truth can change your life!
BENEVOLENCE
In an effort to show the compassion of Christ to others, the West University congregation has always been engaged in various forms of charity, benevolence and relief work. When special needs arise around the world such as natural disasters, a special collection is often taken to help with those needs. When the need is closer to home where we can do more than send funds, we try to provide volunteers and supplies. Locally we often work through and with the Impact Church of Christ, a work which we support. We also assist some of the children's homes in Texas. The following links will provide more information about some of the benevolent works we support:
