Elders
Ralph Arnold was born in and grew up in New Waverly, Texas. He moved to
Houston to attend the University of Houston to study engineering. The
West University Church of Christ supported a campus ministry there.
This resulted in Ralph attending West U where he met Beverly Jean
Bevil. Their wedding in 1964 was the first wedding held in the current
building. Since that time Ralph and Beverly have been at West U except
for a few employment relocations from time to time. Ralph is employed
by Jacobs Engineering Group as a Control Systems Engineer. Beverly is a
retired school teacher. They have two sons. Brad lives in Washington
D.C. and Greg lives in Houston.
Kelly Rushing was born in Corpus Christi and grew up in Baytown. He attended college at UT Austin and then served in the U.S. Navy from 1967-70 as a Lt.(jg). After completing his military service, he went back to UT for an MBA. Kelly has worked in the investment business since 1971, currently with UBS Financial Services as vice president. Kelly also has a deep interest in history. He recently completed his term as the president of the Texas Historical Foundation, a charity that helps to educate and preserve our Texas heritage. He is also a member of the C Club of Houston, a political action committee which interviews and sometimes endorses candidates for local and national office. Kelly has been married to his wife, Mary Lynn, for 40 years. They have two sons. Dean is a Chiropractor in Austin with a wife and three preschool aged children. Their son Davis, an actor in Los Angeles, recently moved to Houston to go into the financial services industry.
Recently we appointed two new elders to serve at the West University Church of Christ. They are Hilton Merritt (Below, left) and Jim Taylor (Below, right) Bios will be soon.
